Who Controls Our Brain? – Linocut

Last week as part of the Imprinting Justice exhibit at Queen City Clay, Jamie Schorsh from SOS ART gave a hands-on printmaking workshop at the Fuse Press

Jamie gave a brief history about print making and highlighted some of the ways that print making has been used as a tool for communication and for advancing social justice over hundreds (even thousands) of years.

we were invited to make our own print while Jamie gave instruction and guided us through the printmaking process.  

For the workshop I came up with this zombie cell phone cat design.

I’m going to call it : ‘who controls our brain?’ because it’s a question we should ask ourselves. 

How much influence does tech have over our behavior and attention?  Are we consciously CHOOSING to give them so much of our private information and precious time?

at the workshop, we handprinted our blocks , but when i returned to my studio, I made a few adjustments to the block and then used my press to print an edition-if you would like one of these linocuts to have around as a reminder for when you pick up your phone:
