I’m really grateful to be living the artist’s life, but as good as everything is, I still sometimes get caught up in busyness and deadlines and I lose a little bit of myself.
Every so often it gets to a point where I need to step away and get some rest, take a deep breath, and re-energize myself. That’s the inspiration for this new woodcut! The person in this illustration is doing just that, and it’s a good reminder for me to get outside sometimes, enjoy listening to birds. if I see a shooting star make a wish, and of course the owl is a symbol of wisdom-a reminder that there’s some wisdom to taking time, getting that rest, taking care of yourself.
You can’t make amazing art if you’re always tired, so you’ve got to take care of yourself and get some rest when you need it.
