Critique at the Augusta Art Guild–DREAMS

Every last Wednesday of the month, our local artists meet for a critique.  We create artwork based around a theme…this month was DREAMS.

My “Dream” was a take on the famous “peaceable kingdom”.  A bear is in a tree eating fruit, while deer are grazing.

We are going to take a break for the holidays, our next critique will be January 26.  The theme is to illustrate something from LITERATURE.

Here are some photos of the other artists with their DREAMS:

Beautiful Bellevue

One of the best things about Cincinnati is that it faces Kentucky.

I have a show coming up in Bellevue, Ky at the FUSION gallery, and I am bringing my press.  That night, I will print a block print of Bellevue…I might sell 2…maybe 20, but I will only print them that night, so they will be a very special edition.

For inspiration for the block print, I visited Eden Park, and sketched Beautiful Bellevue.  I’m going to make some adjustments to the composition, but it will be a great block print…here’s a closer look at the sketch:

This would make an awesome monotype too!

OK, so if you want to be there to see the print come to life.  It’s Friday, November 5 at the FUSION gallery in Belleview 5-9pm!

Beautiful Blues

I am settling into my new space at the Pendleton Art Center.kenWithPrints (1)
I have been working in beautiful blues.  One project is a block print, titled “Serenade In Blue”.

I am limiting the print to 12, so holler at me if you want one.  They will make a great gift for any music lover.

Keeping with the musician in blue theme, i also created this awesome monotype.  Of course, there is only one monotype, but I love this composition, and might use it as inspiration for the next block print.

Blog Action Day – WATER

Today is Blog Action Day.  Each year, bloggers around the world write about a common issue.  This year’s issue is water.

This monotype, titled , “Rock The Boat”  was created for Blog Action Day.

Hopefully, you think about Rocking The Boat in your community.

I think it’s sad that here on the Ohio River, we are surrounded by water, but it is badly polluted.  We can’t safely swim in the river, let alone drink or eat fish from the water.  Even water from the creeks are tainted with chemicals from agriculture.

Most people I know can’t drink their tap water…they have to buy bottled water (which has serious environmental consequences) I think one of the ‘best’ countries in the world should be able to take better care of their resources.
