Carol Mitchell is Robertson County’s library director.
Last week, I visited Rowan County’s library- to reserve a space for ArtZine January. I told their librarian that we were meeting in Robertson County in December. She lit up, and exclaimed “Robertson County! Did you know that they have the highest patron activity of any county in Kentucky?”
Anyone who visits the library or meets Carol will know why: Their library is much more than a place to borrow books. It is a community center, buzzing with activity. Not only did Carol offer us a great space for our project, but she also cooked us a home-cooked meal for lunch! I thought we were being treated special, but I visited the day after our activity, to find Carol cooking in the kitchen, preparing for another group. If you want to experience a small town library, and southern hospitality at its best, visit the Robertson County Public Library, and meet Carol Mitchell.
